Прежде всего, мы хотели бы вспомнить о выставке, проходившей в музее «Мемориал Жаниса Липке» в Риге (Латвия). Выставка «Дети Красного Креста» открылась еще в октябре 2018 года, но продолжалась до мая 2019 года.

Мы очень благодарны нашим партнерам из Мемориала Жаниса Липке, которые не только глубоко и искренне заинтересовались темой спасения русских детей, но и сумели на высочайшем уровне воплотить замысел — рассказать о праведниках разных национальностей, которые в тяжелые времена сумели объединиться ради спасения чужих детей. Музей, посвященный памяти праведника Жаниса Липке, оказался местом, которое очень соответствует теме гуманизма — основной в истории об одиссее петроградских колонистов.

Зимой 2019 года мы представили нашу передвижную выставку «Над нами Красный Крест» в Петербургском колледже моды, где училась Ксения Удалова, правнучка Валерия Львовича Альбрехта — председателя родительского комитета колонистов, посетившего детей в Сибири и на Урале зимой 1918–1919. Координаторы проекта выступили перед учащимися, которые с интересом узнали об удивительной истории, произошедшей в семье их соученицы ровно сто лет назад.

Весной 2019 года наша передвижная выставка демонстрировалась в Детской музыкальной хоровой школе «Алые паруса» (г. Красногорск Московской области). Художественный руководитель и дирижер хора мальчиков «Алые паруса» Екатерина Толстогузова подготовила большую литературно-музыкально-мультимедийную композицию по сценарию Елизаветы Толстогузовой (в то время ученицы выпускного класса Лицея НИУ ВШЭ, в настоящее время — студентки НИУ ВШЭ). Эта композиция была представлена на открытии выставки в прекрасном концертном зале школы.

В октябре–ноябре 2019 года передвижную выставку принял Музейно-выставочный комплекс ЦККД «Павловск». Директор Центра культуры, кино и досуга «Павловск», Михаил Петрович Балунин — сын одного из колонистов Петра Балунина. Его личная причастность к одиссее петроградских детей стала очень важным фактором успеха — настолько искренне и заинтересованно восприняли все сотрудники Центра эту историю.

Прошедший год также стал очень важным для нас в плане нашей издательской деятельности. Благодаря организационной и финансовой поддержке Центральной городской детской библиотеки им. А. С. Пушкина, удалось издать большой иллюстрированный сборник материалов Международной конференции «Мир, добрый к детям», презентация которого прошла в нашей штаб-квартире — Детской библиотеке истории и культуры Петербурга (филиал № 2 ЦГДБ им. А. С. Пушкина) 1 ноября 2019 года.

В ноябре 2019 года в Приморском Краеведческом музее (г. Приморск, бывший финский порт Койвисто) состоялась Международная конференция «Россия — Финляндия. На перекрестках истории». В ней приняли участие координаторы проекта «Над нами Красный Крест» Е. Г. Удалова и О. И. Молкина, которая выступила с докладом «Кругосветное путешествие приближается к концу (пребывание Петроградской детской колонии в Финляндии в октябре 1920 — январе 1921)».

В 2019 году нам удалось наладить контакты с генеральным консульством Эстонии в Петербурге, и мы очень благодарны господину Генеральному консулу К. Э. Л. Рейнтамму за искренний интерес и помощь в архивных поисках в его стране, которая сыграла важную роль на последнем этапе операции по возвращению колонистов на родину. Именно через Ревель (Таллинн) Райли Аллен осуществлял контакты с Советской Россией, с которой ни у США, ни у Финляндии в то время не было дипломатических отношений.

В этом году мы также познакомились с историком из Швеции госпожой Гуниллой Гуннер, которая оказала нам большою помощь в исследовании роли представителя Шведского Красного Креста пастора Вильгельма Сарве, сумевшего в 1919 году наладить контакты с миссией Американского Красного Креста во Владивостке и передать под его эгиду колонистов.

Мы продолжаем изучать судьбы колонистов и тех людей, которые участвовали в их спасении, активно сотрудничаем с их потомками, живущими в разных частях света.

Сообщество потомков участников событий очень благодарно всем, кто помогает нам узнать больше о событиях столетней давности и поддерживает наш проект. В частности мы хотим выразить нашу искреннюю признательность семье Гуршманов (Вашингтон, США), которая уже не первый год оказывает проекту финансовую поддержку, совершенно необходимую для продолжения работы нашего сайта и другой деятельности.

First of all we would like to remind you about the exhibition which took place in Janis Lipke Memorial Museum (Riga, Latvian Republic). The exhibition The Children of the Red cross was opened in October 1918 but lasted until May 1919.

We appreciate the work of our partners from Janis Lipke Memorial who not only took the subject of the children’s odyssey close to their hearts, but could implicate on the highest creative level the idea of telling people about the righteous people of differen nationalities who managed to unite at a very difficult time for the sake of saving somebody else’s children. The museum, devoted to the memory of a righteous person Janis Lipke, turned to be just the place to speak about the idea of humanism — the main idea in the story of the rescue of Petrograd colonists.

In winter 2019 we introduced our exhibition Under the Sign of the Red Cross, in Petersburg College of Fashion. One of its students was Ksenia Udalova, the great granddaughter of Valery Albrecht, the head of the Parent’s Committee of the colonists who, together with other parent, managed to find the kids in the Urals and in Siberia in winter 1918–1919.

The coordinators of the project addressed the students and teachers of the College who took interest in the unprecedented story which happened one hundred years ago in the family of their schoolmate.

In spring 2019 our travelling exhibition Under the Sign of the Red Cross was shown in Children’s Musical Singing School Scarlet sails (Krasnogorsk, Moscow region)

The conductor of the boys’ Choir Scarlet sails Ekaterina Tolstoguzova prepared a literary-musical-multimedia composition based on the script written by Elizaveta Tolstogusova (at that time a graduate student of the Lyceum of the Higher School of Economics, currently a student of the University Higher School of Economics). This composition was presented to the numerous spectators in the beautiful school concert hall at the opening ceremony.

In October–November 2019 the travelling exhibition was welcomed in the Cultural Centre Pavlovsk.

The director of the Centre Mikhail P. Balunin is the son of one of the colonists Peter Balunin. His personal involvement was a very important factor for the success of the exhibition because all the employees of the Centre also took this story sincerely and personally.

This year has also been very important for us in terms of our publishing activities. Thanks to organizational and financial support of the Central City Children’s Library named after A. S. Pushkin we were able to publish the illustrated book of articles based on the materials of the International Conference The World Kind to the Children. The book was presented on November 1, 2019 in the headquarters of our project, the Children’s Library of Culture and History of Petersburg (branch #2 of the Central City Children’s Library named after A. S. Pushkin).

On November 23, 2019 the International Conference Russia — Finland. On the Crossroads of History took place in Local History Museum of Primorsk (the former Finnish port of Koivisto). Among the participants there were the coordinators of the project Under the Sign of the Red Cross Ekaterina Udalova and Olga Molkina. The latter delivered a report Round-the-World Trip is Coming to the End (the Petrograd Children’s Colony in Finland in October 1920 — January 1921).

In 2019 we were able to make contacts with Consulate General of Estonia in Saint Peteersburg. We are very thankful to Mr. General Consule K. E. L. Reintamm for his sincere interest to the story about the colonists and for his assistance in research in the archives of his country which played an impor­tant role in returning the children back home, to Petro­grad. It was via Revel (now Tallinn) that the chief of the Colony from the American red Cross Railey Allen could connect to the authorities of the Soviet Russia with which neither USA, nor Finland had at that time official diplomatic relations.

This year we also got to know the historian from Sweden Ms. Gunilla Gunner, who was very helpful in research of the role of the representative of the Swedish Red Cross pastor Willhelm Sarwe. It was he who managed to establish contacts with the Mission of the American Red Cross based in Vladivostok in 1919 and to transfer the colony under their protection.

We keep studying the fates of the colonists and those people who helped them survive. We communicate with their descendants who live in different parts of the world.

On the part of the Union of the Descendants of the Participants of the Events we appreciate and thank everybody who helps to learn more about the events of a century ago and who supports our project.

Especially we would like to express our sincere appreciation to Gurshman family (Washington, USA) who have been supporting the project financially for already several years. This help is very important for developing our website and for other activities.
